Saxenda (liraglutide) experienced intermittent supply disruptions throughout 2023-2024 as Novo Nordisk shifted manufacturing capacity toward semaglutide products to meet Wegovy and Ozempic demand. By October 2024, Saxenda supply had been fully restored. The drug remains a niche option in the GLP-1 weight-management space — daily dosing and lower weight-loss efficacy compared to semaglutide and tirzepatide have made it a secondary choice clinically, but it remains a valid pathway for patients who cannot tolerate weekly injections or who are eligible for the Novo Nordisk Saxenda PAP program.
