FDA shortage list
FDA's official list of drugs currently in shortage. Drives compounding eligibility.
When a drug is on the FDA shortage list, compounding pharmacies can legally produce essentially-equivalent versions per 503A/503B rules. When the FDA declares the shortage resolved, compounding must stop (within a grace period). Semaglutide and tirzepatide were both on the list during 2022-2024; semaglutide came off in late 2024.
